HSS M42 Material for Gear Shaper Cutter and Gear Hob
M42 is a highly cobalt alloyed high speed steel to be used when the demand for hot hardness is of great importance. M42 has a good machinability and a good wear resistance.
Chemical composition of HSS M42: C-1.08, Cr-3.8, Mo-9.4, W-1.5, Co-8.0, V-1.2
Standards: Europe-HS 2-9-1-8, USA-AISI M42, Germany-1.3247, Sweden-SS2723, France: AFNOR Z110DKCWV9.8.4.2.1, Japan-JIS SKH59, UK-BM42
Hardness of HSS M42 is HRC 66-68
Coating of Shaper Cutter and Hobs with M42: AP or AT
Application of HSS M42: for making gear hobbing tools like gear hobs, involute spline hob, worm gear hob, chain sprocket hob, timing pulley hobs,
